That's exactly what this is about, get the most popular incarnations from anywhere and keep what works best, and put them in the main verse.
I don't think Gwen will be one of them though, I think she works best in her own world, bringing her over would make her just another Spider-Woman, and we kinda have enough of those. Plus it would completely negate a huge part of Spider-Man's history, at that point they might as well bring Uncle Ben back.

I'm interested in seeing where they're going with Cyclops merging with the Phoenix Force, which I guess means 616 Jean's staying dead.

Honestly that was a really really weird time for Remender. I get that he built up his name doing similar things for his Uncanny X-Force run, but boy that got confusing really fast. I'm pretty sure a lot of new readers got confused like hell by the book.

Agreed that Gwen needs to stay out of the 616 or whatever's left after SW. As for the negating a huge part - well OMD/BND did the same to almost 20 years of Spidey history, and they're chugging alone fine so who knows. Marvel has supposedly been trying to bring back Gwen for the longest time, and I understand Jeph Loeb, who's their big media guy now, is a huge proponent of it. Uncle Ben is on another level, he's the whole reason Peter chose to become a hero.

Well, if they bring back Gwen they'll loose all credibility. Her death isn't just the most important thing she's done, but it was also a hugely important milestone for comics. The first time a main character actually died for real, in fact it's so important it's referred to as the moment the Silver Age ended, and comics lost their innocence. If they bring her back now, it would be even worse than when they brought Kraven back.

Let's not forget that you don't need a separation or divorce lawyers, just sell your marriage to Mephisto, and it's all good (hell, your dead best friend is back to life and you regain your web shooters and crappy luck in general)

Apparently this new Battleworld is being compared to Game of Thrones.

I picked up the two Secret Wars after reading all of Earth-616's "Captain America and the Mighty Avengers" and the new "Amazing Spider Man" line, all of Earth-1610's "The Ultimates" and "Ultimate Spider-Man" issues, and I gotta say, I'm still confused as hell. What other required reading is there, and how long is the new Secret Wars supposed to last?

Basically if you really want to find out what's going on, you'll have to read up on Hickman's Avengers and Secret Avengers from the past 2-3 years or so, but be warned it's seriously decompressed and stretched out. I'm not sure the books you mentioned are as integral as they are except for the last few issues or so. Secret Wars will last about 4 months.

I totally see that. Secret Wars #2 was a really interesting bit of world-building, imo, and I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm actually more on-board for the tie-ins after reading it now.

Yeah, I got a GoT vibe reading Secret Wars #2 -- loved all the God Doom, Thors, Cap Britain stuff...

I wasn't reading any of the stuff prior to this event, so when Thanos and company showed it, it didn't really mean anything to me.

I think the takeaway from that is some remnants of the 616, who remember the 616, still live. It's going to have major repercussions.

Didn't have time to read all the tie-ins this week, but I really liked Planet Hulk. The bonus comic at the end about how the region was formed was a nice read too.

My main complaint is the comic ended just when it was getting good, and we don't really see a lot of Steve in the actual Hulk region, but that should change next issue.

I'm really digging Doom and his smarmy Dr. Strange sheriff... I also liked how Doom didn't lower himself to Steve's level by actually talking to him.

I'm liking the hand stroke style coloring and artwork overall. Also really cool how they are tying so many stories and universes throughout the years together.
Uncanny Inhumans #0 was nice too.

Finally receaived my issue of Secret wars #2.
So turn sout I was a bit too quick to declare the Fantastic Four dead, so far Susan and both kids are alive and with Doom, they even still wear the Fantastic Four uniforms, with the "4" symbol. Jean Gray is alive again and of importance.
Actually, just looking at all the characters and everything that happens, it looks like Doom is a bit sentimental, and saved all his former allies and enemies from eradication.
So if we call the Beyonders the creators working at Marvel, Doom is the fanboys and girls who refuse to accept their favorites dying.

Still really digging this event -- a lot of these self contained stories and mini-series are just flat out fun, imo. I haven't read anything in the last two weeks, but I just finished Inferno #1 and had a good time reading it.

I think the only one I was slightly disappointed in was Infinity Gauntlet, because it just felt like nothing really happened and I didn't connect to any of the characters. Went in expecting a story about Thanos, got something else entirely (though this will likely change in issue 2).
