All he confirmed is that his role is that of the Secretary of Defense.

That actually leads a lot to speculation on his character.

I can see his character ranging from a respectable military general to a very antagonistic xenophobic character.

Giant alien robots having a war on your own backyard a normal guy would be freaked out.
