I don't know that any of this is news, but the CEO of Hasbro did make a few comments regarding the movie in the web cast this morning for first quarter earnings.
The movie has a ratings target of PG-13
The movie is expected to appeal to a broad range of people (both kids watching the show now and 20-somethings who grew up watching it)
And my favorite quote, "Collectors are (chuckles) very involved in this movie and we've been communicating with them online ever since we announced the movie"
I like the fact that the CEO seems to be in support of the fan involvement in the movie -- though I'd really like know what his little chuckle was about!

Yay for acknowledging the fans! I'm really impressed with the Hasbro, Bay and others' involvement in the movie, especially their attitudes towards we, the fans.

Earnings web cast for Q106. Go here:
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?p=irol-eventDetails&c=68329&eventID=1275133
Once you start the web cast it's at like 1 hr 05 minutes 30 seconds or so. My windows media player claimed it started like 34 minutes in, so your mileage may vary.
Otherwise, just listen to the Q&A section.

If he was the one who penned the blurb.

If he was the one who penned the blurb.
Except that it was an off the cuff response to a question posed by a financial analyst and not part of his canned talk.
He's very aware of the movie and the fans involvement. Hey, at least we know that Hasbro brass is aware of and listening to the collectors market.

Hey! I grew up watching G1 and I am a 30-something. I was only in 6th grade when Transformers were at thier peak, everyone I knew was into it.

They forgot the rest of the interview....
So how is the Transformers movie coming along?
Uhmm...we're making a movie? When did this happen?
Uh, yes...like the start of May....of this year...ya know?
Wow. I guess it's going great then. I love Megasaur and Primal Optimum. It should really please the fans.
Dude, that's Megatron and Optimus Prime!
Yes...I knew that. That's what I meant.
Of course you did. Now, you said this will please all the fans...
Yep....kids will really dig this hip movie. Lots of robots and...other things....should be right up an 8 year old's alley for sure.
You don't even know what I'm talking about do you.
Not really no. But if it makes money...who cares right? Ok, thanks for coming I've got to make some business calls. Thanks for talking to me about the My Little Pony movie.
Transformers!
Whatever.

I figure because he was impressed by how diplomatic his response was, and that he mentioned 'fans' without also mentioning "obsessive", "weirdos", or "scary". :D
