Its about time. And now another year to go.
I'm damn surprised.
Still doesn't absolutely guarantee a release. (Things have been greenlighted and shelved before.)

It's much better than that "This could be cancelled at any time" stuff we were fed before. Now, it can only be cancelled at any OTHER time. :)

Oh, it's as likely to be cancelled now as it was six months ago.
ie: not at all.
But if the OFFICIAL green light makes people happy, so be it. :)

Nice to see the movie has finally gotten the official greenlight. But, I have to agree with the others that have said that they would have been more surprised if the movie wasn't greenlighted.

I just can't get excited about this movie, given the writer and director and all the things that have been said about it. Ah well. Hopefully it'll inspire some good toys.

I'd be more excited if there were folks I trusted to make an awesome film involved. I WANT to have faith, but Michael Bay has a spotty (being generous) record. Still I guess cautious optimism is the best bet for now.
-ZacWilliam, if nothing else I'm hoping for something with spectacular visuals I do think he can handle that part, now if Hollywood just doesn't screw up the TF story...

Indeed, some movies have been canceled after they go to DVD, so this movie is definitely not safe.

Better than another 20, right? ;)
Yeah, I'm also apprehensive with Bay on board, but at this point - given the whole green light thing - I assume it's out of our hands. At this point, all I can hope for is some popcorn-munching entertainment.

i concur with this sentiment.
it could be worse. ang lee could be directing.

Ditto on that man. I liked that movie. Yeah it was slow in the beginning, but it wasn't that bad.
and a roxxors for the official green light. Honestly, Michael Bay doesn't bother me.Although I never saw the Island or Pearl Habor(didn't really care for either) but I liked his other movies. So, like someone said earlier, might not be the best flick ever, but its gonna look flippin' sweet :rock

Excellent....did not know if the movie would make it this far....as far as the script goes, I do have reasonably high hopes for this one....would not be suprised at all if the story sucked, but seeing the recent crop of Sci-Fi (in particular superhero) movies lately, I see a marked improvement in the story writing....so there is hope. :D

Yup. I don't have much faith that plot/character-wise it'll be good, but Bay does at least know how to put together an over-the-top action sequence..and it's debatable if the former or latter is more important to a Transformers movie anyway.
Hopefully the human actors will not be as cheesey as expected. With cartoons it's exceptable, but when a 24 year old man is says monotonely "Oh my God they are robots that turn into veichles.......they are like.....transformers.....!!!!!!!!", in real acting, I will hate the film. No matter how pretty it looks, its the acting and the voice talent that will bring this movie to life.

Quoted for truth.
And to those who bitch about Bay, we could have gotten alot worse. Like Shoemacker. (sp?) (Then we'd have nipples in Prime's windows.)

I for one loved The Island. Ya, it's no Pulp Fiction, but it's a fun action movie with an interesting plot and some decent characters. No one should expect any better from a Transformers movie.
