Some of the reports:
Red ... means it's probably bollocks, Amber ... means it's could be tainted by a partisan source, Green ... means you can rely on it. Up to a point. Maybe. Your call.

CHICAGO WIND

So what's happening at Chicago?

Well, basically all the DC announcements expected for San Diego but never happened. Possibly.

The greenlighting of first-mentioned-in-LITG "52," whatever it may be called, is having an effect on schedules as the editorial reality of a universe-spanning weekly series kicks in.

So we may hear about a new "Blue Beetle" series. A new "Atom" series. An "Ion" series. And "Freedom Fighters." A new "Shazam" series. But everything is subject to cancellation before being announced, or reduction to mini-series if a significant amount of time and money has been spent.

Will Geoff Johns be placed on a Superman title yet? Will it be "Superman Confidential?"

"Infinite Crisis" spin-off books such as "Shadowpact," "OMAC" and "Checkmate" are fairly safe, though "Suicide Squad" has been nixed.

"Gotham Central" is being replaced by "Streets Of Gotham" from issue 40. Either "Superman" or "Adventures OF Superman" is being replaced by "Superman Confidential" from issue 226. "Legends Of The Dark Knight" is being replaced with "Batman Confidential" from issue 206.

And on a number of high profile projects the creators have been jiggled around quite significantly - including some A list titles. Dan DiDio's flying by the seat of his pants again...

M PEOPLE

So how will House Of M change the Marvel Universe for ever? Well, LITG has alluded to this in the past, but for those who like to remain spoiler free, the following is whited out.

Expect a massive reduction in the level of mutants in the Marvel Universe, almost to the 1960's level. Being a mutant will become something very special, as opposed to the almost everyday occurrence prevalent in books like Mutant X and Morrison's New X-Men.

How this happens? Oh no. I'm not going to spoil *that* for you...

Return to your House Of M spoiler-free state.

CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE

So what's the big surprise that will "change the DC Universe forever" in Infinite Crisis. Come on, whip out that spoiler white space.

Okay, okay, Even I'm not going to totally ruin this one. But a major character dies and is replaced by their successor, just as The Flash did in the first Crisis On Infinite Earths. This will kick off a new mini-series, which will turn into an ongoing.

No I'm not saying who. Shut up.

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM

DreamEngine's website (http://www.dreamengine.ca/) has a new pretty picture frontispiece.

Funny, we were expecting a coffee cup placed precariously on a Porsche dashboard. Still.

Dream Engine plan to publish their own books in the near future. Not printed by Quebecor, who refuse to publish Pat Lee's books again after the unpaid printing bills left by Dreamwave.

One project from Dream Engine that Pat Lee's been promoting is an upcoming possibility for signing up with SONY, for a 20 million dollar budget movie and online game project. And he's currently trying to recruit as many people as possible to show to SONY that he is capable to do the job.

Not the biggest budget in the world - although that figure is after Dream Engine have taken their own cut.

Pat Lee has just moved into a top floor suite at a very nice apartment, bought for half a million Canadian dollars before the bankruptcy. Nice. I bet it's got good parking.Source: Comic Book Resources (http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/index.cgi?column=litg&article=2203)

Don't do it Sony!

I'm stumped. Who do you think it is?

As for the House of M stuff, THANK FRIGGIN GOD! Morrison f'ed up the X-Universe so badly.

I'm stumped. Who do you think it is?Highlight for my thoughts:
Well if you read last week's spoiler we know it's not Batman, and you know they'll never kill off Superman again, leaving of the big three: Wonder Woman. And who just happened to have returned in her own little special just in time for Infinite Crisis? Donna Troy.

Seems about right at least, but that could be a red herring. Then again, if this is considered unknown spoiler material, why would they have one?

That actually makes alot of sense. Though I don't know if it'll be that obvious. But we shall see. It is doable without many problems. Donna and Diana do look alike, so the casual readers wouldn't much know the difference.

My thoughts:
I was thinking either Wonder Woman as well or Captain Marvel... he's getting a new series.

Who else has a successor?
Batman = Nightwing, Robin (we know Batman doesn't die)
Superman = Superboy, Supergirl (doubt they'd kill Superman off again)
Wonder Woman = Donna, Wonder Girl
Green Arrow = Connor, Roy, Speedy
Captain Marvel = Mary Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr.
Aquaman = Tempest
Flash = Kid Flash

How about villains, any of them with successors?

My thoughts again heh:
1. Rumor has it that Batman, no longer being able to trust the League, leaves the JLA. His replacement "supposedly" is Nightwing. So we know Bats is still around. They won't kill off Supes. They won't kill off Ollie again. Conner was GA for awhile, didn't click.

Captain Marvel's a good choice though. Billy Batson dying could have a huge impact. ?

They could have a red herring just to keep Rich Johnston off track, since he's been doing a rumor column since... I dunno, 1999 or so.

Right. Also, killing off Superman or Batman would put them in a pickle while the movies are being made. However, they did introduce the All-Star line this year...

And from what I read, the Connor GA series actually did moderately well, even though it wasn't a top 10 ordered book or whatever. The only reason it was canceled was just because DC really, really wanted Kevin Smith to relaunch the book and get even bigger sales from it.

But it would be really redundant (and too soon) to pull it off again, especially when long-time readers know that Ollie came back from the dead only four years ago.

But really, why would having a large population of mutants eff up the X-Universe? This isn't like Fantomex killing Darkstar or Emma Frost hooking up with Scott Summers or Wolverine decapitating Magneto.

Which should actually leave Wonder Woman safe, too. They've got Joss Whedon onboard for that one, so I doubt they'd want to replace her with that movie in the pipeline.

Personally, I think it would be hilarious if it's Green Lantern. :lol

On the House of M:
The whole "Going Public", X-Corp, The school with 50,000 mutants, it all never sat right with me. Yeah, I enjoyed a few of the characters, Cucoo's, etc. But in the grand scheme of things, how did the Marvel Universe go from having a fairly low mutant population, to suddenly having an outbreak of what seemed to be millions of mutants everywhere?

It MIGHT make Wonder Woman safe, but come to think of it, I believe there's going to be ALL-STAR WONDER WOMAN book before long. So there's a chance that any of the big three could bite it... But it would be something of a retread, wouldn't it? 1) Superman died, there were four Supermen who took his place. 2) Batman got his back broken, replaced by Azrael, later comes back and takes another break with Dick Grayson taking his place. 3) Wonder Woman died, elevated to Godhood and replaced by Hippolyta for a little while.

If it's Green Lantern... It would be kinda ludicrous to kill off Hal Jordan NOW, wouldn't it? And the others don't really have actual successors. Maybe Jade might be one, but I dunno.

Come to think of it.... The only time I remember them doing a tie-in while the main character of the TV show was dead in the comics was the Flash TV show in the 90's (where Barry Allen was the Flash instead of Wally).

Also another thing: Captain Marvel was a member of the original Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire JUSTICE LEAGUE. Wouldn't it kind of fit in with how some horrible things happened to the Giffen-era LEAGUE? Elongated Man's wife dead, Blue Beetle dead, Max Lord turning out to be a villain and dead...

I'm gunna type in black like everyone else...YAY!

I'm putting my money on Flash. Why? Johns had stated that after IC there would be no point for him to continue writing the book. They just killed off a Wonder Woman a while ago, GA is recently back from the dead, GL is the same, Batman's future has already been stated, Superman already died but I do think they'll radically change the character. Hawkman is currently dead, we think.

Who do I really want to see die though? martian manhunter. The guy has been around forever and really has no bearing on the universe except to be on the JLA. Kill him off and be done with it. Or just wipe out Booster Gold. A Booster without a Beetle just doesn't click.

After reading the Donna Troy article (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/thread79424.html)... I think it's pretty safe to say she doesn't become Wonder Woman (Read about the third goal). Diana could still be replaced with Cassie though.

I'm leaning towards Captain Marvel more. He could die trying to take down The Spectre. Mary Marvel or CM3 takes his place... or the Wizard dies, Captain Marvel takes his place and one of the kids takes his.

That's an interesting theory, but if they kill off Wally, it has the potential to turn into a running gag about how every big cosmic "Crisis" thing has Flash getting killed (Barry in CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS), or almost killed (Wally in ZERO HOUR, then he came back for a bit, then seemed to die in "Terminal Velocity" but came back, etc).

Also, isn't Hawkman still alive? I thought he was in RANN/THANAGAR WAR. Unless you're talking about the one from the HAWKWORLD revamp or something.

And what about members of the JSA?

The Spider

To add to Wreck-Gar's theory...On another board (can't remember at the moment), someone pointed out that in the TITANS/LEGION special, there's a scene where Bart Allen meets up with his mom. As Bart leaves to get back to the fight while telling his mom not to forget him, his mom says something like, "No one will ever forget... The Flash."

What's worth pointing out is that the special was written by Geoff Johns. It could just be a throwaway line, but it seems like Johns, Rucka, Winnick, Loeb, etc have been planning these things out for a long while.

I had a thought about Captain Marvel last night too, fitting in with the "let's get Giffen!" thing... As for the Donna Troy article, I dunno, I originally thought maybe Cassie, before remembering Donna just happened to return just in time for the Crisis. Hmmm... But I really hope they don't go Flash... another Crisis, another Kid Flash graduating to Flash? C'mon.

When did Hawkman die? Carter is in the current issues of JLA where they confront Bats about what they did to him.
