Glad they can't use Panini comic for the DVD cover!
There probably aren't any extras in it, but having 4 episodes is better than earlier volumes of Armada.

Finding combiner limbs is very hard. I was thinking which combiner to collect as I can't afford all of them, now I think I totally miss out.
Why do they sell them separately?

Dark Saber (not mini-cons, that pretend toy) $20 still at BigW Macarthur.
Oputimus Prime mask (Hahahaha) $1.80 at the same place.

At melbourne, southland shopping centre kmart, they have cybertron prime, megs, jetfire and scourge. I didn't get any because the jetfire design has a gap in the torso; scourge has limited arm movement, don't like megs's colours (waiting for galvy); and Prime cost $98!! (f*** that!).

Now moving on...has anyone in melbourne found alt. Grimlock?.....or if he's been skipped: Wheeljack.....or even windcharger/decipticharge????

Hows the prices for the Cybertron stuff? Popped into Kmart in Kardinya (Perth) and saw bits and pieces, although the Leader price threw Me half way across the floor. Is TRU any better or worse in prices?

Good thing about now, with it being July, Target and Kmart should be doing their 'great toy sales' which means, much laybying and keeping them til Dec grins*

The_Angelus_San
07-03-2005, 06:49 PM
I thought I would never see the day when the leading elite toy store would actually have the more reasonable prices compared to Kmart and Target....

Ill have to keep that in mind, although Im holding out til these great toy sales pop up, as the 6 months layby is a blessing and they tend to drop the price down a few dollars to encourage sales. Heh, IIRC, thats how I snagged most of My Energon stuff.

The_Angelus_San
07-05-2005, 04:54 PM
Popped into Target the other day, MP Magnus was there for $150 (not bad at all, nice box as well).

Cybertron was retailing for $26 for the Deluxe range and $90 for the Leader class. So Target is proving to be alot better for the Leader class than Kmart is, although the link in Soundwarp's siggie is still a darn good deal! Popping into TRU today to see whats on the Perth side.

JD

Target, Bullcreek (Perth) had 3 MP Magnus' when I was there.

Not sure what the other side of Aus is like, but Kmart is doing a lil 'toy sale'. Leader class as set at $20 (although Im still going GF from Soundwarp's Siggie haha), Scouts were $17 and Deluxe were $22 (IIRC). Still interesting in seeing what happens at Target.

For the Aus crew anyway, is everyone sticking to Cybertron? Or Galaxy Force? For some reason Im going to try and go the all GF route (despite the increased prices) but Im tempted to still get the Cybertron Scout and Deluxes as some threads seem to indicate little or no changes between GF and Cybertron. Be interested to see what the other Aus crew are thinking.

The_Angelus_San
07-08-2005, 02:51 PM
Popped into TRU Perth, found out that they have a lil offer thing going. Buy a Leader class get a scout free! Leaders are running at $80, but will probably run for $90 as a standard retail price. Ultra was running at $50 (from $55). Scouts, Deluxe's and Voyager were selling at $15, $24 and $40. Alts wise, there was Jazz in like, the dozens x 3. Picked one up (naturally) for a great price of $25. I wonder if this means Alts are dropping in prices, let alone if the rest will start getting slowly pumped into TRU. As I havent seen a better price than $25 for an Alt.

Popped into one of those 'hobby' stores for the GF range, prices varied alot, and I was hard pressed between the shop and the Transfigure store. Suffice to say, I still picked myself up Autolander! So today, I ran away with Alt Jazz and Autolander. :D Probably going to whack into Kmart tomorrow, get a Megatron on layby (like the Cybtertron colors than the GF one) and grab Hardtop since I doubt Ill see it in the GF range.

Now if only this was a cheaper thing to do *groans*

*EDIT*
Picked up Hardtop today, and put Cybertron Megatron and Jetfire on layby. Man My wallet hates Me so much now.

*Second Edit*
Placed Overhaul, Jolt/Reverb/Sixspeed, Landmine and Scattershot on layby today. Thank goodness for Christmas layby, so the wallet doesnt hate me AS much. They will probably be the last stuff from the Cybertron range that Ill get, the rest will be done via Galaxy Force, as half the figures I like without the allegience insignia.

The_Angelus_San
07-31-2005, 09:57 AM
Nothing much over here. Put a MP Magnus on layby the other week and picked up My Alt Dead End Layby, Atl Silverstreak from TRU and GF Skids. Saw GF First Aid, but thats about it for major sitings in Perth.

Thinking of doing a splurge to try and get the Energon combiners as I feel disappointed that I didnt pick them up earlier. Mainly more for the combined mode, but ehh, oh well. Just wish finding the limbs wasnt such of a pain :banghead:

The_Angelus_San
08-09-2005, 07:46 AM
Made a trip to the Independent Toy/Comic store. To My surprise, a nice combo of old and new GF toys. Soo, I grabbed Myself GF Star Scream and whacked GF Vector Prime on Layby (man, the colors look so much better than the Cyb colors). I managed to see the Vanguard team members (pretty impressive), red 'ramble', roadstorm and chromia. Also saw the BTs up to Prowl (both variants). Not too bad, the only downside was the price tags on half the stuff. So if You use transfigure toys for your TF supplies, you should be in good standing.

08-19-2005, 03:27 AM
is there a reason for brissie being dearer as the prices i quote are nsw prices
even loc cybertron figures are $5.00 at big w and universe micromaster devestaor or railbots go for $5.00 each at k-mart
all cybertron leader go way less then $100.00 most go for $85.00 and ultra figures like jetfire go for $49.00 and mp magnus as i say is only $139.95

The_Angelus_San
08-19-2005, 12:26 PM
I was surprised with the Cybertron LOC range, as I saw them at TRU and instead of seeing them at $10 per pop (which was My best guess), their true price was closer to $5. Cant say Ive seen the cheap Alts, but Im not sure of which number is what anymore haha.

Misatokitty
08-25-2005, 07:28 AM
A few years ago, when I'd compare prices with Weewoo, I worked out Brisbane prices were cheaper on the whole than NSW. But it depends where you shop.

Oh, and for the record? There's currently 1 Starscream left on shelves in Queen St Mall Mr Toys. I've got the other one on laybuy. Still no wave 2 deluxes anywhere, though.

Misatokitty
09-15-2005, 06:29 AM
If anyone is interested, Big W just out of the Queen St Mall in Brisbane has a single Dark Scorponok. Nothing else new, bah. And Comics Etc in... um... Elizabeth St? The one Borders is in, anyway. Has World's Smallest Transformers in for $20 each. Apparently so expensive because they couldn't get them through their usual suppliers, since Megatron is part of the assortment and customs wouldn't let a replica gun into the country.

... weird, as the gun is so damned tiny and fake-looking.

Anyways, I got Thrust, Red Alert and Megatron. I really wanted Prime, Megs and Soundwave or Prowl, but oh well...

The_Angelus_San
09-28-2005, 07:52 AM
I saw LOC Wave 2, the Rail Bots and Supreme Star Scream at Toys R Us in Perth. TRU is also having a made jazz holding, so Alts got dropped down to $20 a piece. But there were jazz's everywhere. Wish I had a bit more cash as I would have picked up a few more LOCs for sure, especially Megatron and Starscream.

Got an email from Transfigure Toys; apparently they're shutting down. After the next wave, they'll be selling off their remaining stock and then that will be it. Pity, because they were very good.

Have to find an alternate Binaltech/Alternators source now (and NOT that company that wanted AU$130 for one BT; think they might be asking AU$80-90 now, but that's still too much). Looks like it might be eBay from here on out... (usually winds up cheaper anyway).

Myers Queen St Mall in Brisbane (level 3 for the toy department) has all the "new" ones. Yeah, they got a real small shipment in a week and a bit ago, then a big one (well, for Myers) this week. Yay ^^ Apparently one of their dockjockies is a TF fan, too, and gets at least one of everything unpacked. Interesting trivia.

I haven't seen anything else new anywhere else, though, but there was some heroes of cybertron stuff at Big W in Queen St last week... didn't see it this morning, but they've stocked up a little on deluxes again.

Can't get to Aspley, though :( Wish I could...

Nothing new in the city, though will be checking again Saturday morning. (Big W in Queen St Mall puts out those little Cybertron figures a bit, though, so they must get a couple in at a time... they had Evac last week, and Leobreaker the week before).

The best place for new TF's!

Today they had:

Longarack
Buzzsaw
Blurr
Sideways
Snarl
Runamuck

Honestly they are the best!

Was at Garden City today... in Kmart, Big W and Toys'r'us, they had: starscream/vector prime two-set (TRU), nothing except wave 1 deluxes and over... uh, the chicky one (Big W) and Longarack, Snarl and Blurr (Kmart).

On the other hand, KMart Toowong has Superion, Devestator and Defensor KO giftsets for $16 each (got Defensor) and I got an Alt Dead End there, too. Oh, they've got the Armada repaints as well.

KMart Toowong:

1 x Scourge

David Jones Toowong:
4 x Evac
Multiple scouts
2 x Mudflap

TRU Mt Gravatt:
6 x VS packs
6 x Starscream
1 x Sideways

all other KMarts/BigW's/Targets had very little to really speak of.

Way too many repaints were everywhere.
If your from Brissie in a certain area LMK and i'll try to remember what was there :D

After about two months of no new Transformers from Hasbro Australia (other than the SWTF above, which are probably shipped with other SW toys), some new ones have finally been found. They're just TFC basics, and it means we have fallen behind America once again by a couple of months, after all that time being level or even ahead. Hopefully it means more new ones are being released now as well. It would be good to catch up with American releases again, but it will be expensive. Not sure what Hasbro Australia are doing, but every time we start getting some momentum with TF popularity here in Australia, Hasbro go and do something like this (stop releasing TFs for two months) to have most stores empty of TFs and loose newbie interest.

From - http://otca.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=31&st=100#

Spotted the next wave of basics today:
Wreckloose
Swindle (nice Hardtop repaint)
Swerve (bad Clocker repaint)
Backstop
Brushguard (Overhaul repaint)
Street Speed Minicons (bright Minicon repaints - like we need more MiniCons!)
Were at both Target for $15.99 and Big W for $14.74 (or something very similar).

(that's about US$12 and US$11.55 for basics - another one of Hasbro Australia's tactics to limit popularity of TFs here)

I agree... a friend at work went to the US for a holiday august-september last year and picked me up Red Alert from there (about a month before he came out here, if that, by the time he got back), and with the exchange rate taken into account, and some change to round it up to the next dollar, he came to $15.

Needless to say, I've since been most put out by paying almost twice that for deluxes before and since.

griffin-of-oz

I got so fed up with the over-inflated prices here in Australia, I made it a point to speak to one of the Hasbro reps at BotCon last year. He said he'd look into it, but he didn't sound too convincing, and nothing's changed. He's in Marketting, but Australia wouldn't be his turf. Although, if a toyline like Transformers, which has been a top ten action figure toyline in America since Beast Wars, fails to even be noticed as a brand in another country, you'd think Hasbro in America would want some answers. Or at least care enough to see that maybe Hasbro Australia is overpricing themselves out of the market. If they want sales success for the movie, they need brand recognition - something they won't get if they price their product from 60-110% above American retail.
Basic/Scout - should be AU$9.90 - instead its AU$14-17.
Deluxes - should be AU$14.30 - but no, its AU$24-30!
Mega/Voyager - should be AU$28.60 - instead is AU$40-50.
Ultra - should be AU$35.70 - instead is AU$50-60.
Super - should be AU$57.10 - is instead AU$70-100.
Supreme - should be AU$71.40 - but we have to pay AU$90-150.
Prices taken from - http://otca.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=72

We have the same production run and packaging as the ones in America, and we are closer to the factories, so wholesale prices should be equal or less than in America. And yet, Hasbro has refused to give a plausable explination as to why there is obscene profiteering on TFs here. And I've seen their wholesale prices once before, so it's not the retail stores' fault.
It's actually cheaper to get them bought and posted surface mail from America to Australia, and sometimes even by airmail!
American fans take the retail prices for granted, without realising how expensive it is for a completist or semi-completist collectors, like myself. Going to BotCon each year brings some relief, because I can buy up big on retail, and carry them back with me on the plane, saving a fortune.

I'm going toy hunting later today - I'm hoping I find some of those Star Wars TFs. And maybe a new Scout TFC or four. :)

In addition to the posting in the news section that had Metroplex, Menasor, Nemesis Breaker, Soundwave, Ransack GTS, Giant Planet Team, Wave 4 2-packs fournd at a Toyworld in Brisbane:
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=100472

These were found in the last week in Australia, and I have listed the store chains, to give an idea for where these will most likely be found first. I put in the converted US$ amounts for any Americans who don't realise how much Hasbro Australia shafts us fans down here with their over-pricing. Most of their wholesale prices are more than American retail prices.

Kmart:
Ransack GTS, Giant Planet Minicon Team (Deepdive, Longarm, Overcast) - AU$16 (about US$12).

Toyworld:
Soundwave with Laserbeak - AU$50 (about US$37).
Space Team + Race (Road Assault) Team 6-pack (in America Mar04) - AU$15 (about US$11).
Night Attack Team + Road Wrecker Team 6-pack (in America Mar04) - AU$15 (about US$11).

Myer:
Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus (US CostCo Excl Nov05, US$30-35) - AU$170 (about US$125).

David Jones:
BEAST WARS 10TH ANNIVERSARY - Dinobot, Rattrap, Tarantulas, Cheetor, Rhinox, Waspinator - AU$35 (about US$26).

The RiD 2-pack were found at Sydney CBD Myer. I'm not sure if stock has gone to other stores, or just dumped on the one store.
But if you are really keen on this set, see if any of the american online stores or ebay has it. Even airmailing it, this pack would have to be cheaper than getting it locally. Hasbro Australia have over-priced this thing so much that you could get three in America for what one is priced here.

Also, just sighted today was the Star Wars Millenium Falcon TF, at a Target store for AU$75.

Strange... I kinda noticed this too today when I went off to Brisbane city. Why didn't they have the DVDs - copyright issues, or something else?

griffin-of-oz

We got the multi-lingual packaging version of the Beast Wars toys, which is probably for non-US countries. The DVDs in the US release are Region One, and licensing probably prohibits their release here in our Region Four. Since it is a multi-lingual packaging for release in a number of countries within different DVD regions, the DVD would need to be 'Region Free' to be able to be used in all those different countries. Producing region free DVDs may not have been allowed. As such, the non-US production run of these six toys have no DVD, has altered packaging(no mention of DVD and is multi-lingual), and has an altered insert (no-DVD bubble).

griffin-of-oz
06-25-2006, 09:18 AM
I'd be surprised if it were a store exclusive, or at least, beyond its initial release, because Hasbro would need every outlet possible to sell these big over-priced things.

Couple of related things for Kmart here:
Alternator Optimus has appeared at Kmart stores, listed as 'dodge ram' and not 'alternator' - probably making this a one-off release because of the character, or perhaps Hasbro Australia has started releasing Alternators to retailers again.

Star Wars Transformers are no longer being stocked at Kmart stores. While at the same time, Shortround, Scrapmetal, Lugnutz and Repugnus seem to be scanning in as SWTFs, which are twice the price. This is a national error, probably due to who ever entered those items into the computer system.

Mr Toys is just Toyworld, and gets stock from the same melbourne warehouse that the rest of the Toyworld stores around Australia do.
The name Mr Toys is just a prefix to the name Toyworld. Some stores are called 'Toyworld' and some are called 'Mr Toys Toyworld'. There aren't any just called 'Mr Toys'.

JD
06-26-2006, 10:42 AM

Misatokitty
06-27-2006, 08:10 AM
Usually, that's the state here, too, and they tend to stock up on one toy and nothing else. I still remember this store missing the last waves of BW and later waves of BM to stock up on about 50-60 TM2 Megatrons and Tigerhawks. Ugh, it took them two years and shifting stock between 3 stores to shift them... and because they had a wall of them, they didn't get much else in at the time.

Ah well, I'll do a phonearound in the next day or two for Primus and Alt Prime... heh.

EDIT: First hit was lucky, KMArt at Morayfield have both, so I'm picking them up on my way home. Dunno if they're normal primus or with little uni head, though. Will add to this later.

Are there any American (or, I guess, Japanese) online stores which ship internationally? And if so, what are their shipping rates? I know HasbroToyShop.com doesn't, which bugs me a bit, but whatcha gonna do.

There's a 5% import tariff for most toys in Australia, but if I could save on shipping by having a bulk lot imported every six or twelve months, the tariff wouldn't be such a big deal.

Heck, if the bulk rates were good enough, local Transformers collectors' groups could get together and make one massive collective order every so often. Then we'd just have to work out interstate distribution and postage ourselves...

Found Titanium War Within Optimus at Garden City "Toys R Us" in Queensland, Brisbane last night. Only two of him there and I grabed one ($30). They of course had ALOT of the Megatron figure, I'm guessing because not too many people want a bunch of metal parts laying in a heap.

In terms of more Transformers being released some time soon in Australia, I guess the Classics would be the next wave; I'm wondering when the next wave of Titanium's will be released.

Haven't been into the store yet but just gave them a call, they claim they haven't got any Alternators and haven't for some months. When asked about Nemesis Prime specifically, again the response was a no. That was speaking with the person who usually handles all that stuff and knows what they've got in that range...

Then again, it wouldn't be the first time they haven't known what they've had in or still have in, even while looking at the shelf :P

I don't know if it was Springwood or the Queen St. Mall Brisbane that you rang but I did get mine from springwood and they had two left after I bought mine so there's a chance the rest are gone. If it was Queen St. Mall that you called then I know there were definitly about 4 of him at that Mr Toys last Saturday; however I don't know about the toyworld in the Myer Centre of Brisbane.

I'm in the vicenity of the city on Thursday so I could try and pop in to see if they have one if ya like. If you read this before Thurs, post up if you'd like me to get them to hold ya one if they've got it - no garantees though that I'll get there on Thurs, I've got a meeting at 2pm and don't know how long it'll go for.

But that's highly dependant on whether I can get my phone fixed thursday or not.

And if I have time, I may even jump down to Indooropilly.

But I'll post what I find thursday afternoon/evening.

Thanks again for the offer, though ^^ While I did talk to the person who handles their stock, and while she was standing in front of the TF section... I've been told stuff that's not true by them before.

Hi peoples,

I was just wondering if there was anywhere else in Australia that you can get the Masterpiece Transformers that aren't imported by Hasbro (ie: Magnus) other than from Transfigure Toys (http://transfiguretoys.com/)?

Thanks in advance,

Mr K

Misatokitty
11-24-2006, 06:02 AM
You're in luck. There's one Magnus left at Target in Morayfield for $89.95. I saw him hidden under a trestle yesterday and was seriously considering buying him.

Instead I splashed out instead on two used PS2 games which came to the same (thanks to one being half price). So he's still there. Presumably.

But Targets are your best chance to get him... I don't think Target's agreement of selling MP figures from Japan will prolly be repeated. (But go on, Target, prove me wrong! I'm so willing to be shown up!)

Mr_K
11-24-2006, 07:28 AM
Thanks Misatokitty,

I think i may have worded my question wrong though. I already have Magnus (found him at Target Carindale last year :D ) but thanks for that imformation, I'm sure another Aus collector will love to hear there's one left out there.

I was trying to ask though if there was any other place to get the Masterpiece Transformers apart from Magnus, in Australia other than from Transfigure Toys. I don't have anything against the company, I've never bought from them, I just wondered if they had any competition that might be cheaper?

Though they don't have it in the catalogue I'm hoping they may have the other transformers on special (ie: beast wars and R.I.D. packaged Cybertron Optimus and Ultra Magnus, but i'll know Thursday night and then let ya's all know.

I was in Myers tonight in Queen St Mall and didn't notice price drops on the other TFs. Actually, they had very little in the Classics range as well (a couple of Megatrons and Optimus', several Bumblebees) and when I asked about the classics minicons got told outright flat "no," they had none. Pity. I'm only after the Dinobot minicons, as well, since I found the others in Myers Maroochydore (only set of each) but not seeing them anywhere (that said, Harbinger told me he saw the new Classics minicons in a local Toyworld in VIC, but I haven't yet seen them in toyworlds here.)

Hey hey ppl,

Today at Wynnum Toyworld (South Brisbane QLD) I found the Classics 2-pack of Optimus Prime and Megatron Tank with bonus DVD for $45.00. They had at least 3 that I can remember - they also had Wave 1 of Classics Legends in and a few Classics Grimlock on the top shelf burried underneath many other classics.

Also....

Case Fresh (http://www.casefresh.com) has updated their entire site with new items. Though there are no new Star Wars TF's on there (though you can still get the Falcon for only $35!!!) there are many new Transformers. Included are the 2nd wave of Classics Legends (including a Classic Legends JETFIRE!) plus many new pre-order items.

Also new Titaniums - Rodimus and Soundwave; plus 8 new pre-orders .

Unfortunatly no new Alternators yet (was hopeing for Ravage - but soon)

In terms of Melbourne - sorry I've never been there so can't help ya out man.

ikado, we get the American distribution of Hasbro Transformers, so you're not likely to find anything unusual in the major retailers here. Some specialty collectable/comic stores import takara stuff, but it is often a lot more expensive than getting it yourself from an online store or asian dealer.
I think the only thing you might find in Australia that is easier and cheaper than in America is the reissue Astrotrain. A store chain here called Toyworld have them for AU$15-20 (about US$12-15).
For a reference guide to what's been released here in Australia, go here:
