Transformers Animated for the Nintendo DS first look

The not being able to transform at will does not sound too good.

I hope there is some aspect of the game where you can transform when you want to, and the game just isn't partitioned into "robot" and "alt mode" levels.

edit: after looking at the screen shots, real-time transformations do not seem likely.

I was hoping they go sidescroller. Doesn't look like we can play as Decepticons, which is fine. I hope they all make it as bosses. I wonder if there will be any unlockables like the Elite Guard or Dinobots?

It doesn't outright SAY it, but the screen captures seem to imply it, since the entire look and level layout of the game are different in the vehicle mode and robot mode shots.

Yeah, otherwise it kinda defeats part of the purpose of a Transformers game. If I wanted to run around one level and then drive or fly around the next then there are plenty of other games I can play which already offer that. Transformers should be able to transform at will within the same level, unless there's a really good reason they can't, like the energon damage in Beast Wars. Not that it actually stopped them transforming, mind...

I laughed at this. This looks exactly like the really bad teen titans game on the ps2. Or the kim possible ds game you mentioned.

One thing I really dislike are the now dated mugshots the characters have on the readout display. Having enjoyed both seasons I feel these are disjointed representations of the characters.

The xbox 360 one will probably rock hard enough to barely notice this however.
I just want to hear bumper robinson on my console.
