For my webcomic, though I avoid overt Transformers jokes (lest I do nothing but) I see nothing wrong with sticking references into unrelated strips via art and such.
Thus, I was inspired to do a couple of character designs based off of Insecticon armor. The character designs exist in the MMO subworld in my comic, and are alter-egos of a couple characters in the comic:
Bombshell - aka Samus Aran (yes, of Metroid. She's an occasional character)
Shrapnyal - aka Nya (or rather, a sexualised fanservicy design of her from a fanservice guest comic I ran)
Aspect ratio is a bit distorted as I straight-out copied them from Flash, and I'm still not sure if I like the visor on Bombshell or not.
And in case anyone is wondering, Kickback I'm not sure of yet. That could depend on if I decide to use the empty spot in the Wayward Travellers as a plot element or not.
