Did anyone pick this up today? If so, anyone want to give us a small review. I want to pick it up, but I have to wait until next week, so I was curious to see if it's worth the purchase (from someone who enjoyed the show too).

Not me. Money's too tight to buy shows I didn't really get excited about the first time around.

I guess the biggest question I have is.. is Episode one the original episode one "with David Kaye not voicing Megatron" or is Episode one that Hybrid episode that contains Episode 2 with flashbacks of 1. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I never really watched it on tv myself, but I did grab the pre-order from Amazon a while back. I'm not a real completist when it comes to the toys but the cartoons I kind of am, good or bad. Hopefully should have it in a few days.

Ahh.... the exclusion of the CN logo alone makes me happy. :D

*L* There's actually a lot I like about this series. The positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion and it features several of my all-time favorite characters. I love this version of Starscream, I love Scourge, Thunderblast is positively ditzy and fun, Override I like, I like lots of the concepts and how they handled such a large cast. Even the kids aren't that annoying in this one. The only person I really wanted to kill was Jolt, but they made sure he suffered plenty later on in the series, so I'm good with that.

It was a lot of fun, this series. Oh, and it has the best ending ever! An entire episode devoted to wrapping everything up. And the street-light transformer! How can you not love that guy? Easily the most fun I had during the Unicron trilogy (and the only series from that trilogy I intend to buy).

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I don't care. It's not Animated, it's not Beast Wars, but out of the trilogy, it's the only one that had at least SOME attention put into the dub.

So my question is.. What is Episode 1 on the DVD?

half.com has about 6 of these available for under $20 plus $3 shipping. They are exactly what the description says, a sealed official copy with a slit through the barcode. From what my library bud tells me they are free promotional copies, or meant to be returned to the vendor for credit. I've purchased at least a dozen movies in this condition, and done business with seller mcreed before. All the sellers have perfect feedback. Hell of a deal. Go for it. Link to list below.

It's not. It's 40 bucks at Best Buy and Frys.

I watched Galaxy Force as well, and honestly, unlike Armada and Energon, and with regards to the obvious name changes, the translation was almost exactly the same, if not better on the Dub, since it was not translated directly, rather adjusted to fit the different cultures. The only major differences I noticed was some bad music placement at the End of Cybertron and during the big finale in the race scene. Otherwise, I don't see the huge difference, aside from people just "always" looking better preferring the sub.

Transformers Cybertron DVD review at Real Movie News for daily dvd news and reviews (http://www.realmovienews.com/dvd/reviews/2375)

pretty great review!

When a neighboring planet, Unicron is destroyed, Cybertron, home planet of the Transformers is in danger. The Cybertron population relocated to Earth where they hide their identities by taking the form of various vehicles and machines. As this is happening, Optimus Prime and his elite team of Autobot warriors are approached by an ancient Transformer named Vector Prime, who resides in a void outside of the realm of time, to inform them powerful and important Cyber Planet Keys. They are a collection of ancient artifacts that were lost during an attempt to create a cross universal space-bridge. It is said that these keys are powerful enough to help save Cybertron from its impending doom. These four keys are now located on different planets throughout the universe, but Vector Prime knows their location, that is until the map is stolen by Megatron, leader of the villainous Decepticons. Both forces relocate to Earth and the race to find the powerful and mysterious keys begins.

The race to save Cybertron finds the Autobots and the Decepticons moving from planet to planet as they encounter a variety of different species and civilizations with different ideologies. On each of these planets, battles between the Decepticons and the Autobots ensue. Quickly the Autobots successfully find the first two keys, which reveals the location of the third key on Earth.

Eventually the race to discover all of the keys finds the Autobots and the Decepticons back on their home planet, the Autobots in possession of the Cyber Planet Keys. However, they soon fall victim to the tyranny of the Decepticons and Megatron when he steals the keys. Quickly, Megatron finds himself the victim when Soundwave takes control of the Decepticons.

Transformers Cybertron takes on an almost allegorical story line when the creator of transformers, named Primus, who transforms from the endangered planet Cybertron, steps in to stop the evil Decepticons, including Megatron, now named Galvatron, as well as the inhabitants of Planet X.

Transformers Cyberton, also known as Transfomers: Galaxy Force is a anime style animated series as a result of the collaboration between Hasbro and Takara. In this rendition of the Transformers legacy, the Autobots and the Decepticons have a computer generated look and feel to the animation, while the people and landscapes appear to be a more traditional cell animation. Transformers purists may find that this new version of the 1980s classic animated series is too much of a derivation from the look and feel of their beloved series.

The DVD release of Transformers Cybertron: The Ultimate Collection features all 52 half-hour long episodes on 7 DVD discs. Each episode is presented in full frame and features a stereo sound track.

That makes me very happy to hear. Everyone always says how Galaxy Force is so much better and I was wondering if there were scenes cut out (like in Energon) or scenes that were animated better (like in Armada) or what. I do wish that they had included the japanese intros and outros in the set though, as those are pretty cool in their own right. But oh well, I can always just check those out on youtube.

I thought that didn't sound like David Kaye on the first episode! I was like...okay, Megs is doing a put-on voice voice so Vector Prime thinks he's someone else? Now I know why. Wasn't him.

The DVD is fairly priced, you can get it on sale for about 40 bucks and it's the whole series, but there are zero extras. Still, I support box set releases like this, because maybe we'll get RiD as a box set some day in the US.

I know, I know, kids' shows DVDs.

But there were a couple easy extras. :( Galaxy Force OP/EDs and like, a huge montage of all the stock sequences.

No idea if the Japanese audio would've been feasible though- the commercial break cuts are probably all different.

I remember watching the final race scene and loving that on Galaxy Force they used the theme from the show during the last run. That was amazing. On Cybertron they just used some jazzy beat. Nothing cool. The ending music when Prime is fighting Megs was also better than GF, but aside from that, the difference wasn't big enough for people to hate on Cyb, especially considering that the VO was done so much cleaner and gave real personalities to the character. Some people hated the various dialects, but I watched a G1 Episode last night with Warpath in it... enough said on that matter.

The Extras that Vangelus mentioned would have been awesome, but I just want Cybertron in DVD quality.

No extras or exclusives of any kind, but still...it's definitely worth 40 bucks, I'd have paid 50 for it if I couldn't get it on sale. It's an all in one shot box set, like Beast Machines. They need to do that more often, so I support a release like this.

i'm glad a copy is finally availible in a english speaking country at a fairly cheap price for a whole 52 episode series but i think they could have done better. My main problems are the number of episodes per disk (between 7-8 per disk) and it only having the stereo audio track. The region 3 malaysian set while more expensive has 4 episodes per disk reducing the compression and the option of either stereo or 5.1 audio. IMO the malyasian cybertron dvd set is the best transformers series set i own but for the price of the new set its still worth picking up.

I just checked my set, and yes, saddly, it is missing the first few minutes of "Hidden." There's an easy way to check this. If you skip ahead to the closing credits on that episode and the counter clock on your DVD player reads at a little more than 13 minutes then you have a cropped episode. It should be a little more than 20 minutes.

Galaxy Force is the original Japanese version of Cybertron (Cybertron being a dub of GF). There is no website to get them from. Try a file sharing torrent.

Cybertron the toyline and fiction were developed jointly by Hasbro and Takara For some reason, Takara and GONZO (the studio) decided to develop the series as a new continuity that had nothing to do with the two preceeding series, screwing up Hasbro's continuity. This had the unfortunate effect of creating western japanophile fanboys who vehemently defended the greatness of Japan and mocked the American baka gaijin Cybertron dub's attempts to reconcile these changes to the cartoon with their continuity.

However, by the end of the series Galaxy Force threw in some hints that maybe the cartoon WAS a continuation of the previous two series, and in any case in 2007 TakaraTomy decided to make Galaxy Force a continuation of Armada and Energon, anyway.

The fanboys haven't been heard from since.
