I wish they had given him slightly different paint apps than Skywarp (as in all the small details).

As much as I love the character, MP Thundercracker is a bit of a let down for me because it looks so bland in jet mode, but realistic. I'm still not quite sure which is better. But the white does help a lot. However, under further investigation, I have found the robot mode rocks.

I hope Hasbro makes their own hopefully....and at another place better at handing out exclusives to avoid the diasaster of MP SS.

So I and others will never see one in stores?

No thanks.

Now if it were targit, or toys r us, I might see one with a drastically marked up price. But chances are I'd see it in the store, unlike last time at Mal-Wart.

I was trying to say that Hasbro should have doled MP SS to another store. I never saw one either at Wal-Mart, but then again never had the cash for it. Looks like I need to rephrase that...sorry. Didn't Hasbro say they considered MP TC and SW for 2009 Universe?

Yes, good to have a new face, and as for the plainness hopefully TC comes with a label set as Skywarp did.

Looked better in earlier pics IMHO. Blue doesn't look metallic, nor dark enough. And the trillion warning labels etc is just too much "white" on the blue. (Only Japan puts THAT many labels on their planes---you can tell Japanese F-4's and F-15's just by how many little markings are painted all over on every single panel/joint/hinge) At least the nosecone's black though, but not his v.stabs.

I'll hope (but not expect) a US release that's more G1-toy-colored.

Looking good, can't wait to complete my MP seekers trio! The second face is a bit dissapointing from what I can see, too much like Skywarp. Guess he'll be the one to sport the normal face among the 3 :p

And he'll probably come with at least some wings stripe stickers to cut the blandness on the jet modes, and if he don't Reprolabels will take care of that anyway :D

I'm really excited about this guy :)

As for Hasbro making TC and SW, I'd think it'd be odd to make one and not the other. I also think it'd be odd to have both of them on the shelf without SS. Perhaps we could see Hasbro reissue SS when/if we get TC and SW from em? :D

Not bad. I really like the shade of blue. I wish he didn't have exactly the same paint layout as Skywarp (stripes, markings, etc.), but it's a small complaint. We're getting all three main Seekers as MP's, so I'm not gonna be one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Not sure whether I'll apply the stickers or not.... I never did on Skywarp, 'cause he looks so sexy in jet black. But Thundercracker doesn't quite feel like Thundercracker to me without a dash of red on the wings, so I might cave and apply the stickers in this case.

Yes, they fixed them. Skywarp and the cartoon colored Screamers did not have the problems. Just the Greenscream.

I'm not sure which of the multiple QC problems with this mold you're referring to, but my Skywarp and Wal-scream both exhibited the same issues as my Greenscream -- some parts that won't stay down, won't stay pegged, or have stress marks on them.

In other news, MP:TC can't arrive soon enough for me!

With the absence of a TC previously, I stripped and painted my Greenscream in roughly the same manner as this release: (Silver chest, black arms, nosecone and tailfins) (http://shadowstitch.com/images/starscreamtakara2.jpg)except I left the bluish-green plastic parts bluish green instead of painting him a more appropriate blue.

Now I'm glad I did, because he'll make a rather nice MP Acid Storm standin... :D

I'm not digging the face particularly, but this will give me a reason to sculpt some new faces... Hmm.. I wonder what an appropriate facial expression would be...

It's not just the alternate face, but the "regular" face too. Yeah, the alternate is creepier, but the regular one is a little off, as well. I think it's the eyes. They're too big or something.

i just happen to run into it at walmart one day, i went back a week later and got another as a christmas gift for a friend. $54.99 (eat your heart out). at that price, i hope hasbro goes to wal-mart for every future MS.

i got my MP prime there too... for same price, if i recall. then i bought the original $109 lame aqua MS SS because, for twice as much, its GOT to be twice as good, right? ... breaks trying to transform it. crap falls off. but seemed like they had it together by the time they gave it to walmart.

Realism FTW.

How is muted blue with a black nose "realistic" for an F-15? Or any military plane for that matter? Skywarp was much more realistic---while no F-15 ever wore all black, at least SOME military jets wear all-black. But dull blue with black? None that I can think of, not even close. The few blue military jets out there are bright, glossy blue with vibrant yellow and/or white striping----display teams, etc. (Blue Angels, Blue Impulse)

It's kinda like MP-03 all over again--it's not realistic enough to please the people who want realism (F-15E's are grey, not green), and it wasn't G1-enough to please the G1 people.

MP TC isn't "G1 toy metallic sapphire blue", and he's sure not realistic. Thus pleasing neither group. And he's not cartoon blue either, for the people who like baby-blue TC. (I hate baby-blue TC, which is annoying since that's the most common way he's depicted---G1-toy-blue is the rarest but most awesome of all TF colors---only BM Jetstorm came close to using it since)

If you want them but aren't sure about spending 200$ on them, just think that in the future they might be much pricier to get, and you'll be kicking yourself for not buying them while they were "retail-priced". They might not increase in price, but it's up to you to wait and hope they stay at the same value down the road :p

You can get a good deal on a used Skywarp now, and you'll have time to buy Thundercracker since he'll only come out in a few months.

I have to say, although it's good in concept, the alternate faces on all three MP Seekers are pretty lousy. All things considered, they are pretty lousy sculpts for a high-end Japanese toy product.

Starscream's smirk is the best of the bunch, but even that looks a bit awkward when it comes down to it.

I think somebody has said before that the "Evil" characters aren't as popular as the heroes over in Japan. Given that, I find it a bit odd that for the first seven figures of the MP line, there have only been two Autobots (Prime & UM).

Frankly--TC only looks cool in metallic deep blue. Anything else--ick. Baby blue does not work. "Faded" blue is neither realistic nor cool.

Skywarp is black---only one shade of black--black is black. He always looks right. And MANY versions of lavender/purple work for him.

Same for Starscream--almost any shade of grey (so long as it doesn't look white) and any shade of red make him look cool.

But Thundercracker? There's a lot of weird-looking shades of blue for him, but the original G1 toy blue is the best blue ever, and should be what he always looks like. Cartoon-colors just look awful on him.

I'm liking everything except for the Black nosecone and 2nd face. I think keeping everything blue would have worked better as a disguise, which is really my favorite part of Takara's versions of this mold. I like US Masterpiece Starscream, but in real life Takara's decos would be considered much more realistic. In any case, bring on Thundercracker!

Now, when do we see the coneheads? ;)

Yeah... but... no matter what Takara do, not everyone is going to be happy. For example, if Takara had gone down the metallic blue route, MP TC threads would've be dominated by complaints about the unrealistic colours. Takara can't win here, so the "faded" blue is probably a compromise.

True. I just think it would have been an interesting non-sequenter for display next to Smirk-Scream and Snarl-Warp. I guess I've always thought of Thundercracker as one of those guys who could have taken a different route if he'd fallen in with different company.
