Somewhere out there, Kickback will probably laugh his ass off when he sees this. Might as well say it and get it off my chest. You ready? I hope you are, so here it goes:

I LIKE ANIMATED.

Let that soak in for a few minutes, to let you know that even the greatest of haters like me would soon see the light. So, why am I posting a thread to admit that I like Animated now? Well, the following should explain everything...

It all started yesterday when I picked up Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime from Wal-Mart. At first, I thought he, along with Cybertron Mode Megatron, Leader Megatron, and Grimlock would be my only purchases for Animated. Well, after playing with Prime for a good ten minutes, I started to realize that he was actually more fun to play with, even more fun than my Beast Wars toys. In fact, he'd even fit in fine with my Classics toys; just call him Classics Orion Pax or Classics Optronix or whatever and it'd actually work. I then thought that maybe the Animated toys weren't all that bad. But I'll be damned if the toys can't look amazingly like their show counterparts. Even the designs are starting to grow on me. I then decided to watch some of the Animated episodes I downloaded, and of course, even the show wasn't that bad. In fact, the characterization, the writing, the obvious homages to past Transformers shows, everything just blew my mind. This is good stuff! In fact, I'm starting to think this may even be as good as Beast Wars, if not better. So now every Saturday morning, I can finally have a cartoon to watch as I eat breakfast cereal. It's like watching Beast Wars...only better. Perhaps I should apologize for underestimating this series. Now I know why the fandom loves this show: It's G1 reborn! Hasbro, you've finally suckered me in. Consider me a fan of Animated. :D

P.S.-Yes, this is really happening. Check out the window, it's the flippin' apocalypse. :p

(Mods, if this is considered spamming, please lock this thread. I just had to say this)

Wow.

Good job! Uh, welcome aboard?

I don't think this will be considered spam, as it can not only serve to prove your point, but also any others who have opened their minds can come and share their stories.

hahah, welcome to the den.

the ability to change ones mind given 'evidence' is usually a good thing. When animated first appeared to the world the one thing that unsettled me from the anihaters was the comment 'its just not what im used to'.

thats the type of thing that holds people back.

i'll admit i prefer 2D fighting video games over 3D but thats different :)

I wasn't crazy about animated at first either. I was willing to give it a try but initial looks of it didn't seem like something I would like that much. I caught parts of a couple episodes and I wasn't wow'd.

But when I started seeing more pictures of the toys I was hooked. The toys really sold me on this series and thus far the ones I have in hand have lived up to my expectations.

I have since gone back and watched all the episodes and they really are good now that I've seen them all in order and am just generally more interested in them. All said, I really like the line.

I was checking your post for any hint of sarcasm but found none. Welcome ot the Animated fan club. I have missed the first 5 or so episodes but now each Sat at 10:30 I'd bring my 8 month old son to the TV room to watch it with me or catch it on Youtube. It's the best TF show since BW and I dare say it's even better on some levels. I am still waiting to get my first toys from HTS but I can already tell they are all gonna be superb and I can't wait to get them.

I feel the same way. I wasn't liking Animated when we were seeing still photos of the toys and screen shots of the show, however in motion the show is really fun to watch! It hooked me into buying the toys because I actually wanted the toys of the characters because they are done really well. I love the show, it have the same feeling watching it as I did when I watched G1 as a kid. Very nice.

I've noticed that a predominance of the Animated fans are also Beast Wars fans, and that the opposers (Myself being one) really didn't dig Beast Wars. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Animated is just drawn Beast Wars with vehicle alt modes. The dialogue is the same, the characters are practically interchangeable with BW characters, even some of the more campy moments. Great kids show, lackluster Transformers series.

Congratulations! It's great to make that move from "utter disgust" to "pure love" with a TF line.

I was on ATT when Beast Wars debuted in '95, and there was a similar time of shock and rejection, then "norming" as folks began to get accustomed to the drastic change in look and style. For what it's worth, there have been no "Animated Lovers vs. Haters" arguments that can compare with the bizarre, vitriolic insanity and nonsensical rantings of the hardcore "G1 vs. Beast Wars" crowd 10+ years ago.

TFA is by far my least favorite show and toyline in the history of the franchise, and I can't imagine I'll ever feel positively about the style of the cartoon or toys. However, like with anything else, you'll probably find something to enjoy on some level if you look for what that line does best. If you've held an Animated toy in your hands, you know it's every bit as well-engineered and innovative as anything that has come before it. And while the movie line is a personal favorite of mine, I'll freely admit that the toys are zero fun for kids compared to Animated.

The target demographic has been completely nailed on this one; the fact that many adult collectors have accepted it is icing on the cake for our friends in Rhode Island.

Nah, Noisemaze hasn't caved yet... :lol Not that I think that'll happen.

Actually, I still am not too wild about the huge-chin-style designs... but the show itself is pretty fun, and the characters are all well done. I really do think it's a modern G1 - and by modern, I mean an objective view. It's a modern cartoon, in the G1 style. With a lot less characters, who all have a good deal more character.

Welcome to the fold, Eric. :)

Welcome to the addiction. The initial promo art of Prime for Animated I still actually believe is pretty awful. But thankfully he really doesn't look that distorted and basic in the show and while animating. Either way, now that I finally have some of the toys, I have to agree with you that they're damn fun to mess around with. More so then the movie figures IMO. I never doubted they would be decent, but they exceeded my expectations.

But thankfully he really doesn't look that distorted and basic in the show and while animating.Yeah, that promo art was kinda misleading. Especially with the chin being TITANIC and a perfect square, wheras in the show it's much more modest and rounded. (but still kinda square as is tradition when drawing robot faces)

I have finally seen the true light my brother Eric! Transformers Animated IS the best show since Beast Wars. I used to be a hater of Animated back this time last year, but officially; TF: Animated is now part of my family. When this series was aired, I should have seen the light of how awesome this show will indeed be. Just imagine guys, if TF Animated had the type of designing that the Cybertron/Galaxy Force series had, the sky would be the limit. And every other TF franchise would be left in the dust, even yours Michael Bay.... But to be honest to all of you G1 fans, face it; Animated is better than Generation 1. Not as good as Beast Wars, but it reaches VERY close.

And as to all of you Animated haters out there. Blitzwing would probably say....

Kiss my shiny metal ass.

*ahem*

Yeah... ehh... after just watching the season 2 finale... I may very well be eating my own foot with a side of crow and start collecting this line afterall. Those 2 episodes alone just made up for any amount of kiddy overdose I thought plagued the series before, and just raised Animated to a level I didn't think was possible.

Wow. And wow some more.

Xformermike
06-28-2008, 11:37 PM
I've also had a change of heart.

Bear in mind I haven't seen the most recent 3 episodes... Sooo maybe they've finally moved on.

Anyways. I don't like it as MUCH anymore. I am starting to find it boring. They are just having way too many one shot episodes that are just... pointless and have nothing to do with the overall plot....

There are just way too many of them. Even beastwars had this in the first season though; so it's not that big of a deal... but damn I wish they would stick to the real story!!! FINISH THE SPACE BRIDGE DAMN IT!

I'm just getting a little impatient I guess.

Mike.

Well, I stopped by to make a post about this very same topic. I'm sitting here messing around with Grimmy and a few others, and wanted to post up about it and share my feelings on this.

Like many others, I declared I was going to skip animated (other than a select fig or two) and focus on classics/universe. I mean, I already have a display for both G1 and movie continuity, last thing I needed was yet ANOTHER continuity and cast to deal with anyway, right? Besides, I was put off by a few of the first eps of the series anyway; didn't care much for the human villains, and alot of the art was just TOO far out there, even for "animated style" standards.

But then, I saw Grimlock. Then, season one moved along and I started seeing some really great episodes. I mean, quality TF stuff here, great dialogue, excellent characters, good storytelling....and the art started to tone down a little. Not as crazy as the first few eps with wiggly cars, etc.

And again, the characters are part of what really sold me...Lugnut, Blitzwing, a PERFECT SS, an amazing Megatron....Bulkhead, even Sari has some amusing lines at times. The only real complaint I have is the young, Primal-style Optimus. I don't want to hear Prime going on some Emo pity party...that's for Rodimus. I do understand at this point, though, that we're seeing honest character development and by show's end Prime will be "Prime".

This is actually the first time that I have been into a TF line because of the show first. I've always bought whatever line was out (wasn't into toys during Beast Wars era) and then the show was an afterthought, but for Animated the show made me love the line.

And then I loved the toys, because they are an amazing representation of the art. Some of mine have the occasional pop-off leg or arm, but I want to remind ppl these figs have more ball-joints than alot of TFs in the past, and ball-joint figs do that, especially with stiff TF plastic. Just sayin'.

And future figs! Ultra frickin' Magnus looks insane! I love the Swoop design! Leader Megatron anyone?

But, yeah, just chiming in because I feel so strongly about the line when before I was so.....meh....
