[Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins) has been cast as John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, says Ain't It Cool News.

McG is directing the summer 2009 release, which has an early 2008 production start and seeks to reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-movie span. Warner Bros. will distribute domestically.

The screenplay was written by Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines duo John Brancato and Michael Ferris.

The film is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind.

Hell yes! Christian Bale is pure win, and a future war = even more win.

I'm already giddy with anticipation.

Sounds like a good choice to me. I always wanted a movie to be during the actual future war. T3 was even an ok popcorn movie, and I am sure with Christian Bale on board these should be far better.

Would be cool news if not for McG. A movie like this needs a director with more than 3 movies of experience.

There is some hope for McG. He did We Are Marshall which was a pretty damn good movie.

When we saw it, the biggest surprise was when the credits came up and said "A McG film."

I let out a nice loud, "what the fuck!?"

And finally, we will have a John Connor that doesn't suck, or a major douche.

Christian Bale is the best choice to play John Connor. They needed a big name that fans would love to offset the fact that Arnold won't be around, with the exception of (maybe) a quick cameo.

As far as McG is concerned, he can do a good movie if he wants to. We Are Marshall was very good, proving he can do a serious film and not just Charlie's Angels crap. Of course, James Cameron would be the best choice, but what do I know?

Bale as John Connor? BRILLIANT! he's well known and can be a badass on screen and the rough look works on him also so its a perfect fit.

Christian Bale and future war are outstanding. Was hoping for the latter since T2.

McG and reinvention...I'll remain cautiously optimistic. Neither is an immediate dealbreaker for me.

I love Christian Bale, and I love Terminator. I even stuck behind T3 and the news of Future War.

But McG?! I'm personally wincing at the thought of him directing Christian Bale, much less a Terminator flick.

Interesting. But nothing will ever capture the magic of the first 2. Doesn't mean Im never going to see these movies, Terminator is awesome.

Future war? Yes!

But less emphasis on Terminators, after all they're just weapons of Skynet.

McG? Hmmmmmm. According to IMDB he's only directed 3 feature films. Bale wanting in shows how much faith he has in the film, but the choice of McG shows how little faith the studio has in the film.

IMO.

I would seriously wait for some serious confirmation ( meaning not coming from AICN ) regarding Bale being cast. It seems a stretch to me that he would tie himself to another big action franchise.

Same here. Considering how creatively bankrupt the franchise seems to be post-Cameron, i'd be surprised if somebody of Bale's standing and acting ability would want to show thier face in a new installment.

Go rent Charlie's Angels and watch the special features. It consists of the three female leads being paid to all stand around McG (some fat fuck wearing a hawaiian shirt) and say how much they love him and how awesome he is. Then he'll say something like "we're all gonna get G'd up yo!"

Then he'll say something like "we're all gonna get G'd up yo!"That's so bizarrely accurate. Almost as bizarre as the fact that you and I both watched some of the special features.

I don't hate the guy, 'cause he made what was expected outta what he was given. Hell, if nothing else, he made Charlie's Angels commerically viable for this decade.

That being said, if you call yourself McG, you've got an uphill battle proving that you're not douchebag. And that shouldn't be a shocker to you.

McG is the most stupidest name ever. Not even a thrid rate rapper would call them selves that. Well, maybe they would. Either way.
