I watch the show, and really enjoy it. I actually look forward to it more than Heroes. I heard the show isn't doing well ratings wise, but it has been ordered for a full season.

Yes, I absolutely love Journeyman, its espeically more enjoyable than this season's HEROES. I haven't enjoy something that much on NBC since I started watching Medium back in 2005. Last night's episode had quite the surprsie in it concerning Dan's ex-lover, Livia.

So is it a lot like Quantum Leap? (They need to bring that show back, Scott Bakula agrees with me!)

Primus
11-13-2007, 04:44 PM
It's quite similar to quantum leap in that he travels through time but he still lives most of his time in *his* current time and just jumps back to track someone then comes back to the present.

The show is so well written I really love it.

If NBC doesn't decide to give it another season, then I really hope Sci-Fi picks it up. I'm still pissed over what they did with Surface. That show had so much potential but was extremely slow at revealing new events and telling the story.

They fixed ^that^ problem with Heroes, but I just can't seem to find Heroes interesting at all.

Another thing is LOST. That show had such a great concept in the beginning, but I lost (pun intended) interest after I had absolutely no clue as to what the fuck was going on or what anything meant.

Journeyman on the other hand, really seems to be well written, well paced, and good at keeping me entertained to want to watch more.

It's great, my favorite show currently.

I think its a great show and havent missed an episode. I was happy to see his brother use that "prototype" 20 at the bar during the end of the last episode. He was really starting to be a big dick and was getting annoying fast.

I also reeeeally enjoy 'Life'. That show comes on Wednesday nights.

It's on my Netflix queue, which means I'll find out if I enjoy it around the time the second season begins.

Btu the premise sounded cool, if a little Quantum Leapish, and Kevin McKidd sealed it for me.

Another solid episode last night with an awesome ending. Dan is in trouble now!! It was only a matter of time before someone got wise to his game.

And next week's episode with his brother meeting lydia or whatever her name is should be pretty awesome. I really like the way this show is going and I hope it's not a casualty of the strike.

Dude, I had almost had a "shock-factor" attack, thinking, How can a kid that young Travel back in time already? When Dan found him in the cupboard, I wanted to smack that kid for scaring the crap outa Katie, but forgave him when all he wanted was his daddy. Awwes.

But, yeah, Dan totally messed up with his brother and his life in the present, when he decided to play hero and save someone who wasn't supposed to be saved and lock that dude away. I can't wait until the next episode! Jack finding out Livia's stil alive will be worth it.

I don't see the big deal, all Dan has to do is remind his brother about what happened that day in the past.

I think it's only a matter of time till the FBI guy finds a picture of Dan taken while he's in the past.

He was caught on the security camera back when he warned the building about the bomb. He's getting careless. It's a good show and enjoyable to watch. The only beef I have with him is that he doesn't talk well with his brother or son. Just sit down and talk about the issue of time traveling with them!

I wonder if his meddlings in the past if having some ill-effect on his child.

I LOVE this Show...Last Night's ep was SO good...I haven't found my self cheering for a show other than sports in a long time. When Jack saw Livia at the paper, I actually said out loud a giddy "Oh Shit...."

Then when Dan said to Jack at the end "Welcome to our life," I let out a little "Yesss!"

The way they are weaving all of the over all story arc's into each individual story is so great.

They have set a precident for Jack to for get about the time traveling again....Jack will be on board for a while, then poof, he'll forget when Dan changes something...

What is lucky right now is that each future is reletively close to the original history(think about THAT sentence for a moment). I can't wait until Dan does something to REALLY screw stuff up, and he comes back to a radically different future.

I too am really loving this show. I was thinking to myself lastnight about how I originally did not want to get involved in this show.

...You know how it is...Tivo is recording Heroes, a little of Journeynan gets recorded, wtf is this, what happened, oh no...this show is starting to become better than Heroes (wtf is up with this season anyways?)...I really hate myself for missing the first episode... kinda like that.

Yeah, when Livia said something like, "You haven't seen anything yet" it makes me think that at some point she may have really screwed up history and had to fix it.

I wish they would move beyond San Francisco though.

I wish they would move beyond San Francisco though.

Right now I'm happy with them staying in San Fran...the confined area makes the changes compound on themselves easier. plus there is more opportunity for dan to run into his other selves...

Think Back to the future With Marty & Doc having to avoid thier other selves.... Keep it confined to SF & with as many times as Dan Jumps, it gets tougher & tougher. Allow him to go all over the USA, or even just California, & that posibility gets to be less & less.

Plus With Jack as a SFPD resource & having lived in SF, Dan can be much more knowledgable about the area...put him in New York, & unless we are talking 9/11, he isn't going to know nearly as much & not be nearly as effective...

Maybe once the story lines start getting too repetitive, then he can move on from SF, but for now I'm happy.

Chalk me up as another one loving this series! (I've seen this thread over the past few weeks, but avoided it because I was behind a few episodes.) I love stories that take their time with the larger plotline while spending time developing characters and building tension. And I'm ga-ga for time travel. So Journeyman is right up my alley.

Each little reveal of the larger plotline has been a good one -- Livia's status as a traveler, Livia living in the past, Garrity's rogue status and knowledge of the travelers. The biggest "Whoa!" one for me, though, was when Langley called Dan while he was in the past!

Or gets shot..

Nice way of getting rid of his [Garrity's] role on the show..
Yeah. That was weird. But was it definite that he was dead? I don't remember them touching on the subject after Dan got home. I'd be surprised if they did away with him after everything they'd just revealed.

but it has been ordered for a full season.
Where was that confirmed? I don't remember reading that anywhere. (Hope you're right, though.)

I wasn't as entertained by this episode, as I thought I would be, but it was all worth it to finally have Jack believe his brother now. I honestly wish Livia would move past her past-tense relationship with Dan, I'm not sure I understood their conversation in the Ambulance entirely, but I got the feeling that she was implying that they could still be together despite her encouraging "be with Kaite" moments in the previous episodes.

I got steamed, then relieved when they both vanished from the vehicle. The Livia x Jack moment cracked me up, she shoved the chick out of the Elevator and Jack seriously thought he was going crazy.

Hopefully, Dan won't pull a stunt like that again, lest he wishes to be shot again.

Well, with two weeks to wait for a new episode, I hope they show the Pilot episode again, I never got to record that one.

I read an article with the producer of the series. He said that there is only two definite episodes left. They filmed a third episode that could work as a series finale if the show does not get picked up (which it hasn't so far) but NBC may not air it for whatever reasons.

So, make sure you tell everyone about this show. Hopefully if the ratings are decent for the last couple episodes they will renew it.

As far as I can tell, the conversation in the Ambulance is more of a realization that Livia was more of a Misson than a girlfiend/lover. Livia has been jumping around a lot longer than Dan. Livia lasted in this one "jump" alot longer than she planned. Unlike normal jumps where it just takes a small event to put things right, Livia is saying that it took that WHOLE time together with Dan to complete "her" mission, her mission being to bring Katie & Dan together.
Dan Had to fall in madly love with Livia so that when she "died", Katie could "fill the void" of Dan's pain. By Livia dying, it allowed Katie to become his wife. By Livia dying, it allowed Dan's son to be born.
Had Livia not been such a big part of Dan's life, Katie might be married to Jack, & Dan's Son would never have been born.
The ambulance ride was the point Dan ( & maybe even Livia)Realized that their relationship was more than just a standard relationship...it was a "mission", time stepping in to correct Dan's life.
I still believe Livia's current Mission is Dan, because she is always there, traking Dan at just the right time, helping him for the better, just like Dan is always jumping in to just the right time to help whoever he is tracking.

Some thoughts..

Dans father is also a time traveler and those pics he took of Dan will bring them back together in future episodes

Dans mom knows his father is a time traveler from the conversation she had with Dans wife. (I really should learn the other characters names)

I'm still very intrigued to know who is the master mind behind the time traveling.

Dans wife is hot.

I would agree with the above. There was an earlier episode where Dan talks to Langley about his father and seem like there was more there. From the conversation with Dan's mom and wife, you could assume that but I think she didn't know her husband Frank was a time traveler, just a deadbeat dad. The description she told Dan's wife seemed to match the actions of Dan so maybe that's a hidden point to the show, find a way to be and stay with your family no matter what.

I think that the season finale of this show for season 1 may be a future jump. I still think Dan's son Zack has more bearing to show and Dan may have to jump thru timelines to find and save him. Perhaps there he will meet up with his father or Langley.

There's 2 more episodes before hiatus (or finale because of the strike?):

12. The Hanged Man
First aired: 12/17/2007 (Monday)
While Dan struggles to save a mother and child in the past, Katie has to deal with her well-meaning sister who wants to help… just as Zack disappears.

13. Perfidia
First aired: 12/19/2007 (Wednesday)
Dan’s newest mission requires him to deal with a man who claims he’s a time traveler, while Livia finds herself on a separate mission to just before her wedding to Dan. Meanwhile, Jack talks to Elliot Langley, and Katie thinks that Dan has been wounded again after she discovers blood in the house.

Yay! Two more episodes before hiatus! But anyhow, I enjoyed last night's episode a lot more than I did the previous two weeks ago. I can't say I favor either Jack and Dan's mother (she's plum crazy and far too presumptuous about her son. I hope Katie doesn't listen to her) or Jack's nosey pregnant girlfriend, who honestly has a priorities mixed up, especially on her and Jack's relationship.

It was nice to see that Livia had herself a sweetheart in her own timeline (and that she accepted his hand in marriage, assuming I saw right) and that she managed to keep Dan on track and on the mission despite the run'ins with his father, whom I honestly think is a coward for leaving his family like he did, but given Jack's explanation of what he did before he left in the present, he had a surge of courage before deserting.

Maybe he is Journeyman as well, but who knows. I seriously hope they resolve the issues of the previous episode soon. I felt like I was watching that Medium episode, "Joe Day Afternoon", (where Joe and his colleagues were taken Hostage by terminally ill man) and dealing with the emotional aftermath in the last five episodes again.

Just curious, but does anyone around here watch Medium?

Dan's father is definitely a time traveler. I think somewhere in that mess of photo's on his desk are pictures he has taken on his journeys. He mentions feeling like an outsider to his family which may be because of all the travels he has done. It also mean that he hasn't been around his family a lot which is what is happening to Dan at the moment. At the end, when Dan mentions he isn't like his father could mean that the writers were somewhat trying to hint that the lives of Dan and his father are almost identical but morally different.

I love this show. :D

Yeah, this was a very solid episode. I honestly think that Jack's girlfriend is a plant of some kind. Working for the (unseen)enemy or something.

As for Dan's father, yeah, I was thinking he's a Journeyman as well. I'm pretty sure we haven't seen the last of the publisher of the paper either. Something is up with him.

One thing I was expecting in this episode was more of a hook at the end. The part when Livia got engaged was okay, but there must be more to that story. I was thinking we were going to see a bit of a hook with Dan's dad in the last few seconds but we never did.

I really hope this show gets renewed.

I don't know about with Fox or FX, but networks do run with shows that are abandoned by other networks. Futurama being picked up by CN, Stargate being picked up by SciFi, etc. I don't think it's likely Journey Man will be picked up, but it's possible.

Goddammit.

I'm sure we'll get 12 more seasons of high-quality shows like Biggest Loser and Dancing with the Stars, though. :rolleyes2

Journeyman was produced by 20th Century Fox so there is always a chance this show could end up on FOX or FX.

It wasn't technically canceled by NBC, they just chose not to renew it.how often does that really happen though?
Buffy is the only example I know off the top of my head.

Agreed on all counts. That Firefly-esque "LCD paper" was COOL. Interesting way of explaining why Dan and Katie had a different kid. This show is so well thought-out. :cry

According to Comcast's listings, it looks like the Wednesday night finale episode is still gonna air, despite the fact the NBC didn't mention it AT ALL after tonight's ep. :banghead:

Here's hoping they put the show out on DVD soon, and it pulls a Firefly. Or, better yet, a Family Guy.

I'm SO mixed about the last upcoming episode...I want ALL of my questions answered & this ep is supposed to answer SOME of our questions, BUT......

On one hand...They have to cram a bunch of answers into one episode & the quality of the finale my suffer...

On the other hand, if they answer all of the questions & the show DOES get picked up elsewhere, then they have to come up with new ideas for the direction of the show, & there is a good chance it will jump the shark right when it gets restarted. So in this respect I DON'T want all of the questions answered,

BUT if it doesn't get picked up elsewhere, I couldn't handle too many open questions....

I'm so Torn!!!!! Damn You NBC!!!!!

Tell Me about it! But then, who coulda thought a little book with all the winning games of history could alter Marty's past like that?

Just as things start getting answered and more mysterious, NBC has already decided to axe the show anyways. This burns me. But that aside, Last night's episode was amazing, and aside from the irritating woman that was Katie's sister (who obviously shares the same mental problems as Dan's mother. Manipulating Man-Hating Bitch Syndrome), I loved the relevations that were brought about. But what was Langley? I would certianly like to know if Dan's Camera and his changing history back to the way it was had something to do with that occurance between the two. Here's hoping Tomorrow's episode is as well.

Yes another great episode indeed! I loved the line where Dan comes back from 'fixing' everything and they tell him that his brother's girlfriend was pregnant and he's like "Did I do that?". My wife and I cracked up!

I am really interested about the NASA rocket picture of Dan and Langley together. Wasn't that the same rocket him, his brother, and mother were standing in front of in last week's episode? Did the picture get altered or was it another one? From last night's physic reading, seems him and Liv are the only 2 time travelers, what the FBI agent may have seemed to want to make it more. There was also a line the rogue FBI agent said in a couple episodes back about 'them' always needing money.

I am sorely disappointed about NBC pulling the show, especially when I have questions or observations like above. Really irks me. I watched their first episode of Bionic Woman and this show was tons better. I even found myself enjoying it more than Heroes Volume 2.

Funny, my NBC station mentioned another episode airing on Wednesday night.

Tonight's (or yesterday, depending on the Time Zones. Its 12:53am here) episode was great. I'm am finally glad to be rid of Katie's Bitch-Sister, (praises the heavens) and the other Time Traveler (whose name eludes me at the moment) was interesting -- I Almost believed he was a nutjob, until the end of the episode -- and Dan confronting Mr. Langley about his abilities.

All in all nice finale.

Bye Dan.

It was a great closing to the show. I do hope someone picks the show up. My wife thought that when Evan (the other time traveler) had that suit and glasses on he looked like a young Elliot Langley. I too saw the difference, very strange. I liked how they were back at the spot where Dan first had the time travel headache in the cab. A good way to bring the show around and explain how Dan started his traveling, by Even dying. The ending of the show was pretty nice having Katie see Dan 'jump'.

Man, it's just like Quantum Leap all over again, not knowing how Dan and Sam are doing traveling through time! Makes me sad. :-(

It was a good show that I will miss next season. I resisted watching the show at first because I wanted to be playing my x-box after Heroes. But my wife liked it and eventually got me hooked on the show.

I think that if last nights episode was the last, they had a nice episode to end it. And the final scene of Dans wife watching him disappear was about as perfect of ending as we could get.

I found this petition spot on the web. I know they may not help, but it's worth a try as NBC don't know a good thing when they see it:

That's exactly what flashed in my head when I saw the ending, it's exactly like Quantum Leap's end, and as much I like it, these open ending just leaves me hanging and wanting more, I'm still hoping that they will bring back Quantum Leap!

EDIT: I sign the petition!

The ending to the last episode was definitely a winner. The look on her face was priceless. Damn, I'm going to miss this show. It was seriously one of the best well written shows out there, and the acting was well done.

Best moment in the last episode was when Jack went to Elliot Langley's class. When he mentioned how he wanted to talk about time travel and how he knew for a fact that it's possible because his brother does it all the time it made me bust out laughing.

i know im late to the game, but i just finished the last two episodes of this show...i had been tivoing, but not watching it. finally sat down and cranked through the episodes and this show was amazing. bummed i didnt tune in each week. and even more bummed that nbc cancelled it...i hope to god that it comes back next season...i love time travel, and all the possibilities that come from it...i enjoyed this shows take on it, how traveling back wasnt a butterfly chaos effect, but just a slight tweak on what was familiar to the character...

and that episode with him having a daughter, that just about killed me...i felt so bad for him and the entire situation. and im not sure why they killed the rogue agent..seems like they developed him for nothing...unless of course he wasnt rogue, and theirs a subsection of the feds who appear rogue when discovered....

PLEASE NBC...bring it back...i hope they do...

maybe we should send in cheap watches

But people should send in their iPhones to NBC and say "I'm going to Spider-Track you in 1985!!!!"

You won't be disappointed!!! That show deserves much more attention. I just hope it's second season gets its much needed ratings so that they may continue on.

Oh, and I had a question about the 3rd traveler in the series who was thought to be just a nutcase. Since Dan and Livia were born on a rare event in history (whatever that comet or constellation that was mentioned), if it has something to do with how they got their gift, how does that relate to the third traveler??? Or was it just a coincidence??

The guy seemed to be around the same age as Dan so maybe he was born under the same rare occurrence. Langley said there were others out there and that their numbers were dwindling.

yeah, thats how i took it too...just think about how many kids are born on the same day....i bet theres at least 100 kids born the same day as dan, therefore, 100 possible travelers...er...99 now that evan is gone...
