Does anybody watch this show? I finally got caught up on it and I really enjoy it. It's like Alias or James Bond but with a geek as the lead and has been added to my "do not miss" list.
I really enjoyed tonight's episode. The reality of Chuck's situation hit him hard tonight, with the real possibility of harm coming to his sister, Ellie, and his kinda fake, but wishes it were real, relationship with Sarah.
And next week's big reveal? I'm betting on Bryce still being alive.

I too have been enjoying this show since it started. But be prepared, from what I read it's not doing well in ratings. So it could possibly be cancelled. But who knows with the writers' strike going on.

After dealing with the premature cancellations of shows like Firefly and Drive, I fully expect any new show I actually like to get canned.

The show has definitely gotten better since the first episode, but I too have that 'its gonna get canned cause I like it' feeling.
And Chuck has one of the best opening title sequences in quite some time.

I think what really is going to hurt this show, although I'm hoping not, is the writers strike. Once it affects them, they will be essentially off the air and by the time the strike is over, which I am guessing will not be within this year, people would have forgotten it. Again, really hoping not though.

If anything, it will stay on the air in reruns, because they'll be nothing new to replace it.

I quite like the show, personally. It' easily one of the best new shows this season (the only one I'm liking more is Pushing Daisies). Chuck has some really good characters and interesting plots, and it's drawing me in more and more each week. The only real problem I have with it is that I just don't give a rat's ass about Morgan, and every time we cut to some extended subplot about him it feels like the show is really dragging.
It seems like the show is doing pretty well, and NBC is really pushing it, so I can easily see it surviving the writers strike (unlike, say, Journeyman or Bionic Woman).

I have to agree on Morgan dragging the show. It'd have been better if they focus on the whole nerd herd including Morgan rather than just Morgan.

I completely agree. It didn't have that opening for the first few episodes and when they showed it the first time, it immediately caught my attention.

I know you mean. I just hope he doesn't find out Chuck's secret or gets brought onto the team somehow. That's the only thing I can see them doing with that character and I don't like it. Well, I guess they could kill him off to give Chuck some added character development. That wouldn't be too bad.

Definitely digging Chuck. NBC's current Monday night has me hooked for all 3 hours.
And Chuck has one of the best opening title sequences in quite some time.
It's great visually, but I don't understand using "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" as the theme song.
The only real problem I have with it is that I just don't give a rat's ass about Morgan, and every time we cut to some extended subplot about him it feels like the show is really dragging.
Really? I think he's hysterical.

Yep. Daisies has my vote as top newbie, too. Journeyman edges out Chuck for my #2, though.
After dealing with the premature cancellations of shows like Firefly and Drive, I fully expect any new show I actually like to get canned.
Yeah. Man, Fox just totally hosed both of those shows. (Firefly has my vote as Best Show Ever Made.) How many episodes of Drive did they even air -- 3? 4? I really liked it, too.
But be prepared, from what I read it's not doing well in ratings. It seems like the show is doing pretty well
Hrm. So which is it? According to a brief search, it seems to be consistently increasing its rating over the last few weeks. (Journeyman's going the other direction, though. :()
Hot chick with incredible legs > womanizing british cad > geek
Yeah, but Chuck has TWO hot chicks, so it should be at the top of your list. :p
What's with all the "Chuck"s this year, though? Good Luck Chuck, Chuck, and the undead girl on Daisies. It's a chuckspiracy, I tells ya.

I like it cause the song kind of sums up Chuck and his being a hopeless romantic plus its just a great song. The Secret Agent girl is his 'Short skirt, Long Jacket'. Though the theme would've been even better if they included the lyrics.
I think Firefly's horrible opening credits was one of the main reasons people didn't watch the show. They heard this deary song, and thought 'Nah not gonna watch this'.

I don't know, I rather like Firefly's credits and the theme song. I blame it on the suits at Fox. Flat out awful time slot + corporate interference on creative decisions + episodes airing out of order = confused and uninterested audience. But that's an old, overly beaten, dead horse.
Let's just try hard to keep that from happening to Chuck!

What I read was about 3-4 weeks back, so it's possible it has made a turn for the better. Which I really hope if the case, cause I'd like to see this show survive. I'm so sick of some of the crap the networks push on TV. But Chuck, Pushing Daisies and Life (I like quirky character driven stories) have to be some of the best shows I've seen lately and can only hope the strike doesn't do any permenant damage to them.

From what I've read, the whole first season (not sure how many episodes that is) is already done so the strike won't effect this season of Chuck!
My wife got me hooked on the show, but I usually have to watch the episodes on the 'net since I watch Prison Break on Monday nights. Good thing I've got a slow job since I can catch up on all of my TV viewing @ work!!

With the Writer's Strike underway, I don't think we really have to worry about it being canceled, at least not until they show every episode that's already been filmed.

Chuck had another great episode tonight. I never bothered watching that OC show, but Rachel Bilson is totally hot! I'd wait for my number 96 to be called just to talk to her. I really enjoyed the Morgan storyline as well. It's good to see the Nerd Herd getting some story time now that their boss got transferred.
And just as things got complicated for Sarah and Chuck, as predicted, Bryce was in the box and is alive and now things are even more complicated! Next week's episode looks to be really great too.

I'm liking the show but if whatshisface does come back and if one of those lame love triangles start then it'll probably turn me off of the show.
Switch625
11-20-2007, 12:57 PM
I don't think it will be much of a triangle, more like something else to make Chuck miserable. Sarah's been in love with Bryce for years and only just started to feel something for Chuck. She'll go back to him for awhile and then when she has to make a choice between Bryce and the bad guys and Chuck and the good guys, she'll choose Chuck. Plus he'll have to continue with the "Sarah's boyfriend" cover because they can't just have her parading around with Bryce since Ellie and Chuck's group all believe Bryce to be dead.
Basically, Chuck was right. The government doesn't want him to get any ever again.
Phorpus
11-20-2007, 01:26 PM
But she might also think about how long a relationship between Chuck and her would last. After the new Intersect is completed she'll have to return to other duties. Unless she quits the CIA or Chuck joins, or something.
And that's another thing, I like the show but its concept doesn't feel like it can last beyond a season or two.

Another solid episode tonight. I really enjoyed the faux triangle between Anna, Morgan and Ellie. Bryce proved to be a good guy, although I'm sure his story's not over. I also liked the double phone call as a nice twist on "who will she choose".

Chuck is an awesome series.
It was created by Josh Schwartz, who's last big hit was, if anyone remembers, The OC on Fox. You can tell he's there because of some of the quirky one liners, the fact Anna is a regular (the Asian girl was a multi-episode guest star in the final season of the OC), not to mention Rachel Bilson (Summer on The OC) showed up for two episodes.
But I love Chuck. I just hope it doesn't fall in to the same realm as The OC, meaning it begins to drag and storylines become predictable, ie., everyone wants the guy/girl together yet everything in the world that can happen does happen to keep guy/girl apart. Until the end. When the girl then dies shortly thereafter.
Or does anyone not remember Ryan and Marissa from The OC?
Oh we want each other, yay we're together wait you believed a psycho over me we're done, oops my ex showed up and I got her pregnant I gotta be there for the kid, oh hey I'm back but now you're with the yardboy, hey look I'm dating a girl oops she's actually by law my aunt, oh hey now we're going to be together again but wait my brother wants you and he tried to rape you now you won't touch me OH now I know why and I just almost killed my brother so we both got kicked out of school but they let me back in but not you and now you've met some new guy at the other school and you love him just won't admit it and I hate him and now that he's dead I really don't want anything to do with you especially now that you're with a drug addict oh wait you want to change oh okay cool but you're gonna leave for a year to be with your dad?
