Ok, with reading all these posts about movies that will be remade, or adapted to animation, or what you wish would be remade. I had another question, what book would you like to see made into a movie? There are a few I would love to see Clive Barker's "The Theif of Always" at one point it was going to be made by Nickelodean as their first feature, but something happenend and it got shelved. Also by Clive Barker there was a series called "The Great and Secret Show" and it's sequal "Everville" that I always wanted to see as a movie series. Another one is a book by Michael Chabon called "The Amazine Adventures of Kavalier and Clay". It's a fictional story loosley based on Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster who created Superman and the crap they went through.

Theodore Judson's Fitzpatrick's War and something set in Terry Pratchett's Discworld universe. Sky One's 2006 adaption of The Hogfather proves that it can be done, and done well.

That'd be neat.

Jules Verne's Paris in the Twentieth Century :thumb.
Edit: Just remembered a couple more. The Artemis Fowl books would be interesting. Charlie Higson's Silverfin would also make for a good movie in my opinion :D.

A version of Dune that gets it right
and Otherland by Tad Williams
I doubt we would get either since the shere scope of these books would be impossible to completely transfer to the big screen unless the move was over 4 or 5 hours long. (The first book in the Otherland series is around 800 pages)

The 1954 animated film, or the 1999 live-action tv movie?

Wheel of Time, though it'd probably be better to make it a continuing TV series rather than a series of movies due to the length and number of novels. I'd also like to see the Dark Elf Trilogy brought to life. I think that is do-able.

I would love to see "Ratha's Creature", "Clan Ground", "Ratha and Thistle-Chaser", "Ratha's Challenge", and "Ratha's Courage" made into a five part series of films.
But in Traditional Animation/2D animation. Kind of like "Felidae" or "The Plague Dogs".
-If anyone remembers way back in the 80s. "Story Break" on CBS did a short animated summary of the first novel. They edited the hell out of it though, and got some parts wrong c_c...
(by the way, of anyone was a fan of the Ratha novels, they're being reprinted and available on Amazon :D)
Non animated; it would be "American Gods", I mean holy hell would that be a wicked ass movie.
I was thinking it would be neat if they made "Blood and Chocolate" a movie too. But they already did, and it hardly follows the story, which was very well done. The movie was "okay". Just as long as you don't expect it to be like the novel.
The 1954 animated film, or the 1999 live-action tv movie?
o____o They did a animated version of "Animal Farm"? *flail* I know it's old as hell animation but *fret fret fret* How was it? I've seen the live-action one. Which was not half bad.

John Steakley's Armor. Powered battle armor Vs. giant alien ants = awesome sauce. The first half, absolutely. Not the second part, where's he's all angsty and fighting space pirates or something...Theodore Judson's Fitzpatrick's War.I love this book, but I kinda feel like the ideological fervor that was such a great part of it all would be really lost without the footnotes.
But visually, it could be a very, very arresting film--dirgibles, the Khan-like tent palace at the end.
I really think that many of my favorite stories work better as literature. Not that film isn't a worthwhile medium, just that the two are different and for some things I prefer the written word. But I'd be down with Ender's Game. I know that's an easy choice, but I think it's a great story that could benefit with some great visuals. The game at the end interspersed with visuals of the actual battles, the zero gravity training exercises. Be cool to see live.
Nothing else jumps to mind, but I'd probably choose SF if anything else, just for the visuals.

James Herriot's "All Creatures Great And Small." They did a TV series about it a while ago but had to shift the focus because their lead actor was badly injured in a car crash.
And its probably been done before, but.... "Hound of the Baskervilles."

Would like to see Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain get made into live-action movies. We've seen how they done up J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, they could do the same for Chronicles of Prydain.
At least, it'd be better than Disney's animated version of The Black Cauldron. That was a bit messed up.

I remember reading a series of books called "America 2040" when I was younger, I always thought they would make a good movie - Earth is dying, America builds the first interstellar transport and goes off in search of a new homeworld - or something like that.
I'd also like to see "Cell" from Stephen King, but only if they change the shitty ending.

I always thought the scariest parts were the cruciforms, though.

I uh, take it you're a fan of anthropomorphic animals. The 1954 version of Animal Farm was Britain's first feature-length animated film to be released world-wide. It was funded, produced, and distributed by the CIA. Yes, that CIA. That should tell you enough about the film.
I love this book, but I kinda feel like the ideological fervor that was such a great part of it all would be really lost without the footnotes.

I agree completely. It would be a visually stunning movie, especially during the major battle in India. Firesticks? Steam-powered heavy bombers and jets? That's just all kind of win right there.
The only way I think the footnotes, which are an integral part of the overall theme of the book, would translate to film would be if it was done in the same way that the film version of The Prestige, but actually sticking to the source material instead of rewriting the whole damn thing.

While Dune has been done, I would love to see adaptations of the Legends trilogy - The Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade and The Battle of Corrin. The attack on Salusa Secendus at the beginning of the first book would look incredible on-screen as the Machines descend from the sky. Definite cert. 18 though, with some of the content of the books.

I'd want the CGI to be top-notch, also, or it'd just look cheesy. While Dune has been done, I would love to see adaptations of the Legends trilogy - The Butlerian Jihad, The Machine Crusade and The Battle of Corrin. Heh. If people pass out during readings of "Guts", man, the movie version could possibly kill people.
I'd still be in.
As for King movies, as long as they weren't lame ABC miniseries, I'd be okay with it. Cell would be one thing, but man, the Dark Tower would have the potential to be the best or most godawful movies ever, depending on how they were done...
Any of Ed McBain's 87th Precinct novels would make for a decent movie, especially any of them with the Deaf Man...

Yeah, there's a lot to cram in there given that the entire first book is based on the back stories of the characters but I'd be more or less happy as long as we get some awesome Shrike action. Plenty of Fedmahn Kassad too.

Like Wolfguard said, the Dark Elf Trilogy would be good, but even better would be the entire Drizzt series done as a weekly TV series or multiple TV Mini-Series. If SF Channel can do EarthSea and Dune Minis, they could do the Drizzt books.
And I agree on Starship Troopers, good movie, better book. And Heinlein did so many other books that deserve the movie treatment, like "The Door into Summer", "Orphans of the Sky", and "Job: A Comedy of Justice", just to name a few.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
EDIT: HOLY shit there IS a movie being made for it, AND in pre-production! Wow I did not know that.

The Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends series both deserve the big screen treatment. I see no reason not to make this happen with the success of LotR. No, the horrid Dungeons and Dragons movie is not enough reason not to do a GOOD D&D story (Marlon Wayans FTL).
